Does anyone here follow a low carb diet like me? I've been doing it for three weeks and have lost five pounds so far. I allow myself one cheat day, usually a Friday or Saturday to eat whatever I want. However, I'm getting really burnt out with it. I'm very addicted to bread and that's just one thing I can't kick. I can only go a couple of days without it and I start to feel physically sick. If anyone else here eats low carb, what meals do you like to eat? I'm so burnt out with eggs so I've mainly been eating a lot of lean proteins, veggies and fruits to get my sugar rush.

I'm trying to cut down on carbs and eventually go low carb, but I have the hardest time with it. My fiancé is a carboholic and it rubs off on me. Also, I'm vegetarian, so the lean meats aren't an option for me.

I'm a vegetarian too, and giving up pasta would be world-shattering for me. hahaha

I'm a vegetarian too, and giving up pasta would be world-shattering for me. hahaha Oh my goodness, while I was vegan, there was no way I could do the low carb thing!!! Haha. I was a little carb addict tho. However, it didn't really matter, I never had to watch my weight,. I was vegan strictly for ethical reasons, and ate whatever I wanted but never gained.

I am know as "carb man".
Yea, low carb diets IMO are not great, because they are a diet. I.E. You can't eat like that indefinitely. Plus I LOVE CARBS!!!!
Anyway - when low carb diets (like Atkins, I believe) first came out in the early 1970's, and I was a teenager, I used to do them. I could lose 5 pounds in a week on those diets in those days....
But now I am 56... and really CRAVE carbs, and weight just does not drop off as easily as when I was 18.....
For HEALTHY, I personally believe a LIFESTYLE change of good balanced diet and cardio plus resistance exercise are the only long term weight control solution.

Carbs should always be limited anyway, especially simple carbohydrates. Carbs are one of the worst culprits for weight gain. Plus when your blood sugar is elevated it's next to impossible for you to burn fat. Atkins goes too far. Limiting you carbs should be part of your lifestyle, just as limiting calories is.

Carbs are the ENEMY! Stay away from carbs and you lose weight. 1/2 a year I decide to do Atkins for the fun of it, while I shed a couple of pounds. Doctor says whatever you are doing, keep doing it cause all my blood counts are fantastic. Right now, enjoying the carbs, but will soon get back on Atkins. BarbQ season is very soon upon us so meat meat meat here we come
