My first tingle experience was in college - 2010ish. I went to a local tanning salon that only had college girls working. They would take the safe tanning test online and were hired based solely on looks. Majority of them were dumb as a sack of rocks. I was a tanning vet but wasn’t knowledgeable on lotions at all. I’d buy whatever they suggested that wasn’t $120. Anyways, they had a shelf of lotions at the end of the season that were 60% off. Usually lotions that were either not great sellers or being discontinued. So the girl convinced me to purchase DS Roar. I had never used a tingle. I probably didn’t even know what a tingle lotion was. She just promised me “it will get you so dark!” Okay. Sold! I’ll never forget, I got in the highest level bed they had (under the high pressure) for the full time and they had relamped it the night before. I was the second tanner to use that bed. I remember feeling the tingle before the bed even turned on. Applied it head to toe like I always did bc I didn’t know facial lotions were a thing, much less not to put tingles on your face. After maybe three mins in the bed I hopped out, called the front desk asking if this was normal. She said it was, and she would reset my bed and if I “give it a few mins the heat will die down” 🙄 I thought I was dying. I finished tanning, came out and the owner of the salon was up front. She asked how I liked the lotion, and while I was questioning the heat and was noticeably confused the owner informed me of how a tingle worked, and all the do’s and don’ts. I asked if I could return the lotion, but they wouldn’t “since it has been used” which is ridiculous since I wasn’t told it was a tingle and clearly didn’t know any better. I held onto it and would use it from time to time mixed with other lotions until my ammunity increased. Now I love tingles and wonder why everyone doesn’t use them 😂
