So, my lease is due in August and I started looking for new cars. I do love to test drive cars and am a decent negotiator, but I really don't understand why it takes the dealers so long to make a decision. I'm so impatient. It's like, yes, no (car's been sold) or maybe (here's our counter-offer). But they're like no response at all. It's not that difficult, folks.
It took the dealer I bought my current car from over 2 weeks to get me pricing on the new model. I put in an offer to another dealer and it's been over 48 hours and NOTHING. I can't negotiate with NO RESPONSE. Anyone else experience that or know what may be going on here?

I hate car shopping and find most car salespeople crooks. No offense to anyone, but that's just my experience. That being said, I only have bought one new vehicle in my life, and that was two years ago when I bought my Honda Accord. I originally went to look at a used, certified Accord that had low miles and looked great in the pictures. However, in person, it looked like s**t and then when I realized I would get a better deal on a brand new car, the dealer's attitude totally changed. Prior to me arriving at the dealership, he was calling me and emailing me multiple times a day and was super nice, up until I said the car looked like ass and wanted a new one, then his whole attitude changed. I realized he would be making less on me getting a new car than the used piece of s**t. He rushed me through the entire buying process and acted like he couldn't wait to get rid of me. He never followed up afterward to ask how the new car was treating me or if I had any questions. My parents have bought several new vehicles over the years and most of the people they bought from followed up with them afterward to see how everything was going. That being said, I felt like I wasted his "precious time" on a Saturday morning for three hours at the dealer, although that's his job.
That being said, it is THEIR job as car salesmen to provide you with a service. If it were me, I would just go elsewhere. If you don't want my business, then to hell with you and I'll take it somewhere else. Sorry to be long winded, but it is very frustrating and a shady business.

Yeah, and now I'm getting the automated email responses, like, I hope I was able to answer your questions and please let me know if you'll be stopping out to the dealership. I guess I have to go out there...With certified check in hand...

When I first went to buy my recent car all the dealers seemed to look down on me because they figured I was just looking and couldnt actually afford it - it was really frustrating. Luckily, it was when I was in LA (right before moving to Seattle) so I just kept going to dealerships until I found a salesman who was willing to work with me and actually be receptive & responsive to my inquiries. When buying a car definitely make sure you aren't settling and you are getting exactly what you went with someone who isn't evasive and is willing to help you.
Car buying is def one of the most frustrating things. (man I miss when I was 16 and my parents did all the car haggling and I just got the joys of the car without having to deal with dealers).
