With Thanksgiving coming up and Christmas,New years etc right around the corner do any you do anything differently as far as making sure you dont over eat?
I've been doing good with portion control and stuff but during the holidays and being at get togethers can be tricky.
There's a few ppl in my family that get super offended if you don't eat or try everything they have out...and not to mention but the majority of it is fattening and loaded with calories.
I usually eat something before I go anywhere but that only helps to a point and before I know it I'm almost being force fed food lol
How do you all deal with stuff like this?

I'm a vegetarian, so I've had to "toughen up" over the years in regards to just saying no. lol Every now and then, someone will act offended (coughdadcough), but I just stay strong!

I DO a LOUSY job at this. So I work out MANICALLY in the days following over eating until my weight is back to "normal". I can gain 2 pounds overnight in a bad eating situation. I can be such a girl about weight control But at least I keep my weight under control (so far). It's SCARY!!!!

I hear you Terry lol
And I may joust have to do the same Heathery and just continue to say no lol
This is the one thing I dread about the holidays, all the crazy amounts of food ppl have! Last year at my aunts she made a insane amount of pies, cookies, and cakes (not to mention all the other food she had out) she got soooooo mad about me having a tiny peice of her cake!
I will still eat light before I go anywhere and stick to my guns, eat in moderation and keep saying no thankyou even if ppl get mad lol
I just wish ppl would just relax during this time of year and respect those of us who are trying to cut back or ust eat more healthier.
Heck I'll still have a cookie or some cake....just not the biggest piece lol

I pretty much eat the same during the holidays that I do the rest of the year...I eat everything that I see, haha! I'm glad there are people on here with such great willpower. It's really hard for me to say no to pecan pie and deviled eggs during Thanksgiving!

I'm pretty sure there's no one who can say no to deviled eggs--and if there is someone, s/he's actually an alien.

I always try to decide just what I'm going to eat before I get to where ever I'm going. Since me and my Husband have 4 different places we go we alway end up having to eat at least something at all 4 places. It makes it really hard for me were as seems like I could look at a slice of pie and gain 40 pounds when my Husband could eat a 4 course meal at all 4 places and not gain a pound....

I just count up what I eat and expect the damage to rack up if it does. I keep my weight with room to gain and try to stay in a 10lb window. I don't really gain on holidays anymore other than water weight from all the carbs. That all goes away fast when I am not eating like that anymore.
If I am around food pushers I just have a bite. I don't care. I do say however that I don't want to fill up because I want a bite of everything. And that is pretty much what I do. I must taste all the dishes! LOL p.s. Its only created a negative weight issue when I ate the entire dish and moved onto another.

There's almost nothing I can do , I end up just eating at my 2 or 3 family functions, taking home every ounce of leftovers, and working out foreverrrrr the next day
