It seems like it's going to be non existent in a few years. When I first started tanning in 2005, there were salons everywhere. Now they're almost impossible to find. Every salon I frequented has closed(including boca tan and beach bum tanning). Is this because of the tax law that was passed? Or was tanning just a temporary fad? It's kind of sad to see the state of it. I remember the days when there were a ton of different lotion companies and lotion types. Now it seems like it's all limited. I guess I just miss the "good old days"!

I know for a lot of salons the tan tax was a killer. Luckily the small business salon I work at has been able to overcome it, but for many they just couldn't afford it.

The tan tax has only raised about a third of what Congress expected it to. So not only is it failing, but before it was passed there were about 18,000 tanning salons around the country, and now we are at around 8,500.
