I used to be prolific on IAMTAN, but lost track of everyone when it went away. Found this board almost 2 years ago, but there's not much going on here. Several forums for other interests of mine have moved to Facebook. I'm a little ambivalent about that, honestly, but wonder if it might not gain more momentum for this group? I miss having people to discuss tanning info with!

Hey,
I hear you and agree with you. The old IAMTAN was special. I visited that site several times daily. There was always something going on from - discussions on tanning, to politics to almost any subject under the sun. I believe that tanning is no longer as popular as it once was. Much of this I realize has to do with people finally taking the warnings on the dangers of UV exposure seriously. Many small tanning salons have closed and the popularity of a website like Iamtan has waned.
I sure do miss the old site. I admit that we have to watch out for over exposure to UV. I still do tan and enjoy the warmth and the relaxation of spending time in the sun or in a tanning bed.
Hope you are staying safe and still enjoying tanning.
Message me if you like

Hi everyone I’ve been tanning since 2004 and used to belong to the original IAMTAN. Lots has changed over the years. I’m in Australia, and solariums are now banned here... but not for personal use thank god! I have an Ergoline 450. I DO NOT tell anyone I tan though. There’s always a lecture...

Both Reddit and Facebook have their disadvantages, but if someone were to start a FB group or subreddit, I’d join and participate in a heartbeat!
Reddit does allow “rich text” features (italics, bold print, etc) and I find it easier to post links there than FB. They and FB both have a big disadvantage with the nested comments, and Reddit threads are “archived” so threads can’t be revived and no new posts can be added after 6 months, but I suppose nothing is perfect.
Or perhaps the discussion can continue here on this board, even if there are fewer participants.
Very, very late to the party, but I’m hoping to interact with some of you in the future— here and/or elsewhere!

Maybe I'll start a FB group, but will I be allowed to link it here, I wonder? I would love to be able to discuss lotions, etc. Or maybe aeroguy39 would want to start one?

I would join a FB group! I imagine the activity would be a little slow until people started finding it, but that is normal.

What happened to the old board? I thought it was this one lol. I was a member of one that looked like this one but I was inactive for the past almost decade. This one doesn't recognize my emails so I made a new account. Damn sure cannot remember my old username lol.

I'm on reddit's tanning sub, the activity is lower than this site. What we can do is start a Discord page.
