Hi! Can anyone tell me the best beds for vitamin D production. The tanning part is not as important to me. The salon I plan to go to has ergoline beds and some others. Can anyone help me understand what to look for, sometimes the sales people really donโt know. I want to research the beds myself first. Thanks!

To clarify, Iโm trying to figure out if there are UVA only beds, I would want to avoid those. Are the ergoline beds all good for vitamin d production?

To clarify, Iโm trying to figure out if there are UVA only beds, I would want to avoid those. Are the ergoline beds all good for vitamin d production? Hi There! Yes, UVA Only Beds are the HP or High Power beds. The HP Lamps are square Bluish Purple lamps. They Produce something like 99.x % UVA - NO UVB to speak of. The LOWEST Level Beds in a salon (cheapest) and typically a MAX time of 20 minutes (Build up to that SLOOOOOWLY. Start at 5 minutes. Add a couple minutes every other day, IF no Redness appears a couple of hours to 24 hours AFTER tanning session.). Those low level beds have TUBES, like florescent light tubes. They have between 2 and 5% UVB (pretty much maxed out at 5% UVB, most modern tubes are 2-4% UVB. UVB causes the redness (burn) but UVB, as you know is ALSO the vitamin D production catalyst. You WILL get a nice TAN as long as you build SLOOOOLY and AVOID burning. Summary: Stick with the cheapest beds with TUBE lamps ONLY and you will MAXIMIZE Vitamin D production.
