Does anyone have any suggestions for a first time spray tan user? I'm going this week to try out the Versa Spa. I have watched the cheesy instructional video on Versa Spa's website, but I was wondering if that's how you're actually supposed to do it. I've never actually used a spray tanning machine at a salon and I'm very nervous that I'll end up looking like Robin Williams in "Old Dogs"

I do it just like they suggest and it turns out great. I actually like the pre and post spray treatments..I think they help the color look the best.

Ok, for those who are interested, I did the Versa Spa last Saturday. The place I go, it's $20 per session. This Versa Spa didn't have the option for the clear solution, only the bronzing solution and it was levels 1-3. Since I still had a decent tan from using sunless stuff the past few weeks, I chose level 3. You just have to remember to do the funny positions, so I think it helps to watch the video online before you go. The bronzing solution was super dark on my face after I left and very shiny, so I didn't really want to go out anywhere because I thought I looked crazy. I could only smell slight DHA, not even as much as when I use Fake Bake or Xen Tan products at home! I could mainly smell it on my hands. I did my the spray tan around 5pm and could notice it getting darker by 8pm. I waited until the next morning around 10 to shower and noticed a lot of the color washing off down the drain, but once I got out of the shower, my tan was a nice deep brown. The only things I don't like about this tan are how unnatural it looks on my hands. I put the barrier cream on my hands and even on the soles of my feet and my hands look totally unnatural. Even the bottoms of my feet look disgusting. The spaces in between my fingers are starting to peel so it looks sort of gross, but nobody can really see that unless they're really staring at them up close. There were a couple of splotchy areas on my stomach but it really wasn't that big of a deal. Today is the 4th day and it's starting to wear off in my places, especially in between my "twins", chest & neck. I wasn't able to get a lot of good pictures, but I took these pictures from yesterday so you all can see. Don't laugh at my picture, the camera flash does make me look a little orange ;D Attachments:

Awwwww, you actually look beautiful! I know when I put my spray tan stuff on I kept deluded myself that I looked orange...my friend said I didn't but I just think we look real close and try to find that stuff rather than looking at the overall picture of ourselves.

When u use the barrier cream, there is definitely a learning curve to it. You have to put a lot on ur fingers & nails & then a thinner layer as u go up your hand towards our wrist. Then do ur palms, but at the very top of your palm by ur wrist, thin it out. Doing it this way causes the tan to fade naturally into ur hands. Also use the cream on the bottoms of ur feet or ask them if they have booties & u can stand on them, but don't actually wear them lol. Just put the booties where the foot position marks are, if that makes sense. Do the same barrier cream technique with ur feet as I said to do with ur hands, thinning out the cream as you go back towards your ankles. There should be a very thin layer of cream on the back part of your feet closest to ur ankles (hope that makes sense). I've got it down to a science now so it looks very natural on my hands & feet. My salon has a newer spray tan booth, called the Norvell Auto Revolution. It's awesome! You only have to do 2 positions, but it sprays every part of ur body & even measures ur body dimensions so it knows how much to spray u. Good luck!

Looks great. I know this is an old post; anymore experiences since then? The Versa my salon has, has a choice of 2 bronzers, Catalina and I forgot the other. The girl said Catalina was darker. Since it washes down the drain there's no real point but the new girl said it contributes to the final color; she's wrong I assume lol
