Pollopescetarian is a fancy term for someone who eats only poultry and fish/seafood as meat. I did this once in high school also for a couple months and never knew the term for it. Whether you think the term is ridiculous or not, I still think it's just easier to give a label to it (personal opinion - lol). My only problem is taco meat and bacon, as in giving it up. It shouldn't be too hard, though.
I'm mostly doing it for health reasons, though. I find chicken/turkey and seafood to be healthier in a general sense. Also going to be slowly cutting out soda. For awhile I'm going to be drinking just clear soda, then slowly cut it all out. Also probably drink more water. And other little diets changes I can't think of at the moment. Any suggestions on other diet changes...well besides not eating as much fast food, etc.
Also this isn't about diet, but I'm also going to try tp quit smoking cigarettes...been only smoking about 6 a day and using my electronic cigarette.

I'm a vegetarian (ovo-lacto). I will say that it is VERY hard for the first month, and then mildly hard for the next 1-2 months. After that, your body will start to adapt. I've been a vegetarian for 8 years now, and it's amazing the way my body thinks of/treats meat. People who aren't vegetarian don't believe me, but I honestly don't WANT meat. I see it, and the thought of eating it grosses me out. Also, the smell of cooking meat makes me nauseated.
Your body will adapt if you stick with it! Then it won't be hard at all.

About ground turkey - awesome, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I like ground turkey and turkey hotdogs and such. I guess I was thinking more of where I work...Taco Bell, lol.
Bronze Heels, I was thinking it would be like that. Usually the first month of quitting anything is the hardest, lol. But thank you for your input. All good information.

I'm lacto ovo veggie as well and have been since new years last year. One of the best choicee I've made in my life. I have blood sugar issues at times and I had weighed about 160 lbs on a 5'6 height. I lost 20 lbs with no effort and feel great with the blood sugar too. I think all the fiber keeps my energy levels even keel. I eat mainly unprocessed foods.. whole grains, nuts, beans, tofu, fruit, veggies, cheese, and the occasional egg. For me the transition was effortless, but ive never "loved" eating meat. It grosses me out half the time with the bones, veins, etc. Good luck to you... I have no doubt if you do it right, you'll feel awesome!

I'm hoping I will lose about 10-20 pounds just by changing some of my diet within the next couple months. I have a problem with liking certain foods and red/pink meat too much in certain things. It doesn't bug me not eating it too much, just I to keep reminding myself I can't eat some of the same things I used to. I'm doing good with not drinking soda too. I like carbs too much...big problem.

I think my biggest hurdle was trying to convert recipes to vegetarian. For example, I have a pad thai recipe that is just not right without the fish sauce. I use soy sauce now and it works but I don't love pad thai like I used to lol... You'll find new recipes that strike you though. As far as the carb thing goes, I loveeee my carbs too and I consume plenty of them now. I just try to stay away from tons of junkie carbs. One of my favorite things to make is a rice and bean bowl. I cook up brown rice and a can of ranchero beans, then add whatever veggies I want like green pepper, onion, tomato. Top with some cheese and it is awesome Google vegetarian times... they have a ton of yummy creative recipes!

Also, Morningstar Farms makes some great products to add to recipes, like "chicken" strips, "beef" crumbles, "bacon," "sausage" links, etc. For example, I love to buy the "beef" crumbles and "meatballs" to add to my spaghetti sauce. And since I don't remember what real meat tastes like, it's like the real deal for me! MF products come in green boxes/bags and are usually next to the breakfast items in the frozen food section of the grocery store, Target, Walmart, etc.

Once again, thanks everybody for your input. Bronze Heels, that is great to know Sounds pretty delicious actually. At this time unfortunately I've stopped trying to become a pollopescatarian/vegetarian for now. I have noticed I haven't been doing very good at it, and mostly because at times I literally eat things and I don't notice till a few bites it has beef/pork -.- Mostly at work I do this when I'm in a hurry and grab some food that was messed up to it. I also had to go to the foodbank because of lack of food in my house, and they gave me some meat and only one was chicken. With so much going on in my house right now I think I can wait. But in the meantime I'm going to try to eat less meat in general if I can .
