If there was a way to do it !!! I would love to see a section dedicated to Best Lotions per Category, since we all want to be getting results from the $$ we spend on our purchases. This would be done thru each of our reviews-1st hand experience Price point and Fabu Results- Every one participates by voting and reviews Like this example: Up to 6 Stars for Love it Forever -A Must Have -Totally Worth It Up to 6 Stars for Results - Got Total Color Change - I m Chocolate Bronze $ up to $15.00 $$ 15.00-25.00 $$$ 25.00-35.00 $$$$ 35.00-45.00 $$$$$ 45.00-60.00 $$$$$$ 60.00 & over As we all know - just because we paid $120.00 for a bottle does not mean it gives any better results than a $15.00 bottle. As a tanner with a insane lotion addiction myself .. I would rather buy 5 bottles that work than 1 that just did not live up to what I paid. We all want real results with or gets us to that RICH COLOR,and of course a great buy. For Example : If I am looking for a new Tingle to Try ..I would look for Highest Star Ratings and Lowest $ first( because I just might buy 2

So, there is probably a way to do this, but we would have to become a paid forum. We won't do that for this reason:
Becoming a paid forum means that there will be one person who is "in charge." That one person will be paying for the forum, so it's essentially theirs. When that is the case, the forum becomes a dictatorship, just like on the original iamTAN. When you have an "owner," you are at the mercy of their whims. The main reason the original members created this forum is so we could AVOID this kind of dictatorship and be a democratic forum. Some may say, "Oh, I'd never be like that if I paid for it!" I'm sure their intentions would be good, just as the original iamTAN owner was. But, over time, things change.
I have personally checked into some free options for setting up a rating system on this forum. There are a few options out there. The problem is that this forum (as a free version) only allows a certain amount of HTML coding. So, again, we'd have to become paid to allow for the amount of HTML necessary. It's kind of a lose-lose.
If we (or anyone) can ever come up with a viable, free option, I'm sure we'd be open to discussing it though!

Heathery. Are you sure we have to pay to get this feature?
Do you know the cost?
I have a lot of access as admin and I can give any and all required access to any moderator that can use it to make the site better.
IM me.
K?
We will figure something out.

Msged you! Would love to find a way to work this out and get at least a star rating for each lotion review for a quick, at-a-glance view of if a lotion is adored or hated.
btannaynay, we'll be sure to update if we come up with any ideas.

Amy~
We implemented a rating system for all threads, but it was never used by anyone. I think you can still use it by selecting those particular layouts, but since no one ever used it, only a few threads ever received ratings. (I think there's more info in the Announcements section of the forum.) However, it's not the default setting anymore since no one was using it for the month we had it up. This was about 4-5 months ago.

Would it be hard to try again - I never even knew of the feature but I was minimally coming on the boards then and lately the boards seem to be super active so it may be more successful. Not sure how hard it was to implement but I think an overall rating system would definitely help. It does help seeing the ones which at least 3 members love but it would be nice to see the general consensus of the lotion easily without skimming through every thread. I know if it was implemented again - I would at least be sure to use it and update my reviews to reflect it.

If you are a registered member you can select from one of our 8 themes. The themes are: Palm Trees (default) - everyone gets this theme if they have not selected one on their profile or if you are not a registered member (guest). Hibiscus Blue Hibiscus Bright Hibiscus IF you want to see the Ratings or Rate threads yourself you can select one of the 4 Rating Themes: Palm Trees with Ratings Hibiscus with Ratings Blue Hibiscus with Ratings Bright Hibiscus with Ratings To select a Theme: Click on "Profile" at the top of the Home Page Menu Bar. Click "Edit Profile" button. Click Settings. In the "Forum Theme" drop down box, select from 1 of the 8 themes. You can change your theme as often as you like, but only if you are a registered user. If you are so inclined, we at IAMTANForever would appreciate your feedback on the themes or any other issues on your mind. If some members want to try it out with the directions Terry gave above, and it seems like people want to use it, I'm sure many of us would be happy to switch back over and start using it again! Just try it out and report back here. If we can ever figure out a better/easier/prettier/whatever way, we'll definitely try something new!
