Hey all you spray tanners! I just got into spray tanning not long ago using the tan-in-a-cans and now I'm thinking about just getting an airbrush machine. Is it hard to spray yourself with an airbrush machine? And also, should I get a cheap one or an expensive one like the Norvell or California Tan one?

I have an airbrush spray tan unit.. and I loved using it but the solution didn't love me... it was to harsh for my skin even the all natural solutions made me way to dry so I'm letting my sister use it right now... Mine is a Paasche with a HVLP gun.. it's a travel unit and works amazing!! I've heard a lot of people talk really well about the MaxiMist as well... The Paasche unit is a professional unit but still at a lower price range.. I paid around 400 I believe for it and I had to purchase the tanning tent as well for about 60.. and with a really nice gun it's not hard to spray yourself at all... My Husband loved to spray me but if he was busy I never had a hard time spraying my entire body myself... I hope you still drop by the forum to read my response ... and if you have done and purchased a unit I would love to here what you got and what you think of it...

I just got the MaxiMist Spraymate from Tampa Bay Tan a couple days ago after a LOT of research online. I was deciding between Paasche (with HVLP gun) and MaxiMist. I went with the MaxiMist and so far am not very happy. It comes out very freckled looking, and I've tried it so many ways, vertical, horizontal, tight and loose with the flow adjuster, it always comes out freckled. I am new to doing this so I plan to keep trying but it just does not seem to be working. And the hose always blows out of the turbine as well. I wish I got the Paasche Tampa Bay Tan has been great with trying to help though, I plan to email tomorrow about my hose issues. It would cost way too much to ship back so I'm considering begging my BF to buy me the Paasche for my birthday in a couple weeks, I'd go with the airbrush instead of a gun I think this time. GloGirl, do you have any tips on spraying yourself? I'd love to hear them Also, what happened to iamtan?? I'm desperately trying to find a specific post but iamtan is completely gone

Just wanted to do an update: I think my issue was with the solution, I was using Aussie Bronze (I got a bunch of TBT solutions with my package), which is a thicker solution. I used Tanfastic today, and now have quite a nice tan It was easy to spray myself, even my back. For my first time, im very happy. The hose was my fault, I have it in properly now and no more blow outs. So while I still need practice, im happy I made this investment
