Wow!!!! You must be an avid tanner, to go out in the conditions that you describe. It appears that you have ideal conditions for tanning UV-12 (even though a bit brutal - with the high temps 105 F). As an avid tanner myself, I am beyond jealous, and wish I could be there to enjoy what you are experiencing.
Do not get a burn. It is easy to get one in conditions like you describe. Let us know how you do keep us updated on your tanning progress.

Well... here's the thing - I live in a desert climate (Dubai) so there's always some sand in the skies as well which somehow helps prevent getting burnt. I've gotten horribly burnt in the USA on holidays with UV 8+ index and SPF30 applying it every hour when I was in short and a tank top at a park for a good 2 hours. The kind where I was red for days and peeling even after getting a base tan here in Dubai. I actually think the UV index alone isn't an indicator of how tan you're going to get as here nothing happens as far as getting darker goes unless it's past UV 8 and I think it's the sand in the air. So ironically I can get away with SPF 2-8 (depending on the scenario) tanning oil here on a regular basis but when I'm in the USA I need actual sunblock. It's really weird. And the color I get when I'm in Europe is a very different shade than when I'm in Dubai so I there's no one size fits all. That being said, I LOVE that I have great tanning conditions from April till October here. Granted I do it more for the psychological benefits of it all (I'm very prone to depression/anxiety and the sun really helps me out) than the physical although given I also love working out having a tan is nice as it makes you look in better shape still. I'll make sure to tan some more for the both of us this weekend. And I generally head inside once I feel a bit too uncomfortable, haven't gotten burnt in Dubai in the last two years (last summer in NYC was ANOTHER story though, OUCH!).

Wonderful session today!
100F and UV index of 11, had two hours worth by the swimming pool and some time in the pool. Was indoors for a good 20 minutes halfway through just so I could go back and tan some more (an hour, break, an hour). Definitely got a bit darker and plan on doing the same tomorrow. There was a slight breeze from time to time which felt amazing when I was starting to get super sweaty, and I kept reapplying my tanning oil after each dip in the pool once I got dry again.

Awesome, conditions to tan!!! Enjoy the sun and warmth that we don't have here. Weather here is rain with temps in mid 60's. This warm now. Forecast for Sat & Sun - rain and I possible wet snow showers- wind chills 25 - 35 degrees..... YUCK!!! Enjoy the sun and tan some for me - tan a lot for all of us.

I'm sorry you've got such conditions, that absolutely sucks. I'll definitely be tanning tomorrow as well so I'll get in time for you. I'm thinking of trying my other tanning oil just to change things up a bit, granted it's a SPF 8 so I'm worried I won't be getting as dark as if I continue with the SPF 2. But it's a different brand and that may help out? I'm not sure.

Last week on May 9 & 10 went outside and tanned a total of 4.5 hours. Granted the UV index was only 7 on Tuesday and 8 on Wednesday, (wish it could have been 10 to 12+ like Sunnydayz is experiencing), but it still was enjoyable. Temps were in upper 60's, but if one stays out of the wind and in the direct sun, it is warm enough in the May sun to be enjoyable and get some decent color to augment color obtained from tanning indoors.

4.5 hours sounds like a great session and glad you managed to get it in despite the conditions not being ideal. Are you using any tanning oil along the way? On my end I only managed an hour of tanning on Saturday. Soon enough kids came to the pool I was tanning by and given I'm a teacher during the week I needed a break from noisy kiddos so I just left. Can't wait for the next weekend to tan again, it doesn't come fast enough. But in 6 weeks I have two months off during the summer so I can lie in the sun as much as I want then.

Well... only lasted an hour today as it was 111F and the UV index was 11. And that involved being in the pool on a giant donut shaped pool float trying to keep cool while working on my tan. Still, conditions were pretty brutal so couldn't take any longer. Tomorrow looks no different. I'm tempted to see if a 10am-11am session and then a 1pm-2pm tanning session would help as that way I'll get more time to tan but have a break to cool off and whatnot.

Geeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz........ You certainly are a dedicated tanner to stay out in the conditions you describe. You get a 10++ for tanning effort. I agree with you, that conditions are "brutal" to be out in those conditions. Better to be on the safe side and reduce your outside tanning during cooler times of the day. Going earlier or later in the day when it is cooler (if there is a cooler time over where you are).
Keep us updated on your tanning progress.

I spent a few hours out back by the pool today. Started off with Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30. Later on I used Elusive. After a while I put on Coppertone Sport SPF aerosol. I used oil free Coppertone face sunscreen twice. I know it seems counter productive but our Texas sun is so strong I really try to avoid burning. The color payout is satisfying and my skin stays hydrated and looks healthy.

By all means do not get a sun burn. Do you already have a tan or are you just starting out trying to work on your tan for 2016?
Take your time developing ur tan. It is worth it in the long run. What is the UV level in your part of the Lone Star State?
Keep coming back here and let us know of ur progress getting a tan.

I do already have a tan established. The UV level is at 11 unfortunately. I do most of my tanning indoors because it's been unbearable outside. Our dogs even refuse to go out do their business sometimes. I don't know what I'd do without the pool. Although it feels like a warm bath, it's so nice to cool down and float in the shade with a book. I lay out in fragmented sessions, I'm very cautious about burning and heat related illness.

I spent 1.5 hours outside. 90 degrees partially cloudy. Started off with Aveeno facial sunscreen SPF 30, Up&Up Sport Sunscreen Lip Balm SPF 50, and Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30. I later used Coppertone Tanning Dry Oil SPF 15 and Evian Facial Spray.
