I've tried a few different birth control options over the past 15 years. I've had Mirena IUD for 5 years. I'm actually on my 2nd one. Anyway, I've been having issues with it and am having it removed in March. Initially we were going to replace it with Nexplanon the arm implant. But I can't have that and continue to take my long term migraine medication that I take in a fairly high dosage. So I have to decide on another option. The shot is out. I had a bad experience as a teen with that. I don't want the ring. I don't want the patch. I think all that's left besides sterilization is the pill. I was trying to lean away from the pill but if that's all that's left I guess I have to go with it. Anyway, what pill brands are out nowadays? What are your experiences with different ones? I want one that is weight neutral and won't give me acne or a heavy flow. The weight thing is my biggest concern as I've just lost 70 pounds. Thanks

Yasmin worked the best for me! and while on it I had hardly any headaches/migraines and my period was super light for like not even 2days & no weight gain at all.

Well over the past 2 days I think Me and my boyfriend have decided towards the more permanent option. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a tubal ligation. My personal choice is no more kids but I had to ask him what he thought as far as his/our future because as a couple who has plans of marriage I felt I should consider his thoughts too before making such decision. He said if we had a baby it would be fine but he doesn't need one (we have 2 each already). And he understands my mental and physical health are issues as far as having and caring for another child. So he agreed that we should go forth with it. I just have to call my Dr and set up an appt to chat about it.

I've had the paraguard non-hormonal IUD for over 10 years, none of the future issues you get with a tubal and it never needs replacing, once you get one you're good for life or until it's removed. I'm a migraine person too, and this is the only option that works for me.

I'm on Loloestrin Fe right now and I love it. I'm not sure if there's a generic out yet, so it's a bit pricey depending on insurance. I used to have extremely heavy periods (I'm taking heavy flow for 6-7 days) and now I have a light flow for 2-3 days if at all. I didn't gain weight and I don't think it really messed with me except for the first month or two of getting used to it

Microgestin has been awesome, minimal side effects besides a little light sensitivity and hormonal crankiness at the beginning, and an added bonus of my boobs have grown about 1/2 a cup size and I've only been taking it for a month.

I recently put somebody on to a couple supplements for migraines and it completely eliminated them. If you're interested I'll look up the names again but both can be purchased for a total of $30.
