Went to my normal salon (who is the #1 salon chain in my state) and lotion up. I halfway get in the bed and then THE ENTIRE ACRYLIC CRACKED, DOWN THE ENTIRE BED.
I pankicked. I am a curiver girl but I've been tanning forever and I know it's not a weight issue but still I'm terrified, and extremely embarassed. I get dressed, and go up to front counter. I tell the girls what happened. I was freaking out. I am like thinking in my head what if I have to pay for this? What will they think?
Luckily, the girls were exteremely understanding. They told me apparently the bed had a few small cracks, due to oils being used... But I was thinking shouldn't they have at least a caution sign up, or have the booth closed until it was fixed? I could've gotten cut from this, luckily I didn't but still. It was so unsafe.
Now I am kind of nervous to go tanning again...

It happens don't worry about it...the salon has insurance for it.
Anyone who knows about tanning bed acrylics will tell you that this happens and it is normal with wear and tear usage over time. the acrylics are pretty strong so getting cut is highly unlikely (unless its completely busted through/shattered,etc) then they wouldn't have had that bed up and running.

You'll be fine. Same thing happened to me about a year ago. I went in the room, got naked, lotioned up, started my bed, and as I went to lay down...CRACK! I'm a 180 pound guy and have been using that bed on and off at that salon now for almost 5 years. Things just wear out. The girl working that day was a bit more freaked out than I was. They had it replaced and it's been fine since. This is a top of the line Ergoline bed too. Don't worry about it. Happy Tanning!!
